This large bull elk was photographed in Rocky Mountain National Park in Colorado. This was taken in the autumn during the rut season. This bull had a large herd of cows he was protecting. Other bulls were trying to sneak in and take off with some of his cows, but he was very wary and chased them all off as they got near. The sun was starting to set when I took this picture and the setting sun gave a nice bright golden tone to the image.
