Artist's Description

This bull elk was hiding in the grass and was nearly invisible except that I spotted his antlers so I stopped for some quick pictures. This picture was taken in Yellowstone National Park in late summer. Several people drove by wondering what I was taking photos of and weren't able to see this large bull hiding in the grass. I suppose they thought the antlers were branches since they couldn't see the body or head of this magnificent bull. I snapped a few photos, then left before people would realize what I was photographing and begin to disturb him. This bull elk was still in velvet, which would soon dry out and he will rub it off before the rut season starts.
