These exposed tree roots create a really neat natural sculpture with some sharp points. This tree was killed in a forest fire many decades ago and after falling over, nature has cleaned them off and left them exposed. The setting sun really helps bring out the colors and shapes. This was photographed in Roosevelt National Forest, which is west of Red Feather Lakes in Colorado.
