This old tree was burned down during a forest fire many decades ago. This lower portion of the tree had some unique shapes and created a natural piece of art. I was able to photograph the setting sun through a hold in the wood. This was photographed in Roosevelt National Forest, west of Red Feather Lakes in Colorado. Unfortunately, when I visited the place in 2013, someone shot this natural sculpture and obliterated it, so it no longer exists. I had planned to come get more pictures of this particualar tree because it had so much character, using a high quality camera, but unfortunately I will never be able to photograph this one again.
